Don’t you cry for the lost
Smile for the living
Get what you need and give what you’re given
Life’s for the living so live it
Or you’re better of dead

Can we just talk about this real fast? Everyone thinks homeschoolers are brain washed kids because their parents teach them. I have heard this so many times. That schools allow students to be better thinkers. I am sorry, I remember being punished when I went to school in second grade for writing in cursive because my mom taught me it a year earlier. I wasn’t allowed to write in cursive because the other students haven’t learned it and because the teacher hadn’t taught it. I remember being punished for coloring a manatee blue instead of grey. After a few years of school, and being depressed I had to go, my mother finally asked if I wanted to be homeschooled again. I said “yes.” Did I mention I was a year behind when I went to school and caught up to my age group within a half a year? I finally caught up and when eighth grade came around my mom would take me to an art gallery every Friday, because it was pay what you can. Not only that there would be a nature protection place that would have guest speakers come in and we would bring our lunches to it. I went to high school the following year.
I love learning. But let’s face it, all teachers have influence on our children. I have seen the crazy homeschoolers that believe Jonah was really eaten by a whale. I have seen students in high school not know how to write a full sentence. Either way education needs some help. I have been punished for “thinking differently” in schools. Just let kids think. Let kids learn.
Praise them for thinking differently. I am really lucky enough that mother always praised me for being different. I will defend homeschooling till I die.
Nothing is perfect, I understand that, but just teach kids, don’t brain wash.
